These are national figures for 2025 and 2026 from the guides listed below; where the guides differ, the range shown is one most of them support. Corpus Christi labor rates are close to or a little under the national average, while coastal upgrades (steel posts, stainless fasteners, heavier coatings) can add to the materials cost.

What drives the price

  • Length and height: price is quoted per linear foot, and an 8 ft fence costs noticeably more than a 6 ft one.
  • Material grade: board thickness, vinyl wall thickness, wire gauge and coating, aluminum rail and picket gauge.
  • Posts: steel posts, closer spacing and deeper concrete footings cost more and stand up better to wind.
  • Gates and hardware: each gate adds a fixed cost; automatic gates add an opener, power and safety devices.
  • Removal and site work: tearing out and hauling an old fence, clearing brush, slopes, rock or roots.
  • Permits and HOA requirements: a set style or color can rule out cheaper options.

Example budgets

Backyard, 150 ft of 6 ft wood privacy fence with one walk gate

$2,400 to $7,200

Front yard, 80 ft of 4 ft black aluminum with a walk gate

$2,200 to $6,400

Acreage, 2,640 ft (half a mile) of 5-strand barbed wire

$2,600 to $15,800

Examples multiply the per-foot ranges above and add the gate; they are not quotes.

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Get at least two or three quotes on the same specification, so you compare like for like.
  • Share a fence that is on a property line with your neighbor, if they agree.
  • Do the easy prep yourself: clear the fence line, move plants, and find sprinkler lines.
  • Choose a semi-privacy or open style where full privacy is not needed; it uses less material and catches less wind.

  • Fence type and height: wood, vinyl, chain link, iron or aluminum, ranch; 4, 6 or 8 ft
  • Length: rough linear feet, or the lot size. A sketch of the fence line helps
  • Gates: how many, walk or drive, manual or automatic
  • Old fence: anything to tear out and haul away
  • The site: slope, trees, sprinklers, and which side takes the wind off the bay
  • Rules and timing: HOA requirements, a pool, and your time window. Photos help; mention them and the contractor will ask.
